Overview

TJ Bowman is an associate in Maslon's Litigation Group who represents commercial clients in a broad range of business litigation matters.

TJ has a particular interest in appellate law and has written several articles exploring various aspects of federal law, including the federal standing doctrine. TJ also argued an appeal in the Ninth Circuit, as part of the University of St. Thomas School of Law’s Appellate Clinic, on behalf of a prisoner claiming excessive use of force against correctional officers. For his work in these areas, TJ received the 2024 Honorable Earl R. Larson Award from the Federal Bar Association's Minnesota Chapter for excellence in the study and practice of federal law.

While attending law school at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, TJ served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Chief Judge John R. Tunheim. He also worked as a research assistant to professors Thomas C. Berg and Michael Stokes Paulsen, assisting Paulsen in an article that took center stage in the U.S. Supreme Court's hearing of Trump v. Anderson. TJ also served as senior editor of the University of St. Thomas Law Journal.

TJ honed his leadership skills early: While in high school, he was appointed to the city of Warren (Minnesota) Parks and Recreation Board.
