Overview
Andy Jacobson's legal practice covers a broad range of commercial real estate issues, with a particular focus in commercial and retail/restaurant property matters, including purchase and sale, leasing, design and construction-related agreements.
Andy is a frequent author and speaker on real estate subjects. He teaches Real Estate Transactions and Land Use Planning at the University of Minnesota Law School. A graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, Andy is also a licensed architect, having earned his Bachelor's of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, and practiced architecture prior to attending law school. Andy is a member of both the Minnesota and California bars.
Experience
- Represented Fortune 500 companies in the management of domestic real estate portfolios, including acquisitions, sales, leasing, construction, and related matters.
- Represented commercial, industrial, and warehouse businesses with purchase and sales transactions, leases, and design/construction agreements across a spectrum of settings, from small local sales offices, corporate campus, and large warehouse/distribution facilities.
- Represented businesses in various sectors of the restaurant, entertainment, and retail industries in the negotiation of letters of intent, leasing standards, leases, design, and construction agreements related to locations in a variety of settings, including shopping malls, lifestyle centers, strip centers, stand-alone sites, and urban entertainment developments.
- Represented major league sports franchise in the development of a downtown, state of the art corporate office/practice facility in tandem with a strategic partnership with a world class sports medicine facility.
- Represented private university on the development of baseball/softball and hockey facilities.
- Represented individual, industry, and institutional owners in the drafting and negotiation of complex design, engineering, and construction-related agreements, between the owner and architects, engineers, and contractors, in a variety of project delivery structures, including design/build.
