Susan Link Provides Commentary to CBS News Regarding the Six Siblings Involved in Settling Prince's Estate
May 2, 2016
Susan Link, head of Maslon's Estate Planning Group, provided commentary for a CBS News piece titled, "Judge makes decision regarding Prince's estate." The article reports that at a Carver County hearing lasting less than 15 minutes on Monday, May 2, the Judge formalized his appointment of Bremer Trust to handle Prince's estate matters, adding that all but one of Prince's surviving siblings attended the hearing and, similarly, all but one had signed the agreement for Bremer to handle affairs.
Susan stated she "doesn't think any of the lawyers involved will 'fan the fire' of any discord among the siblings and that their decision last week to sit the siblings down together was a good move. If the siblings can't agree, the personal representative will be going to court a lot."
Susan Link practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, and trust administration. She works closely with families to plan the disposition of their assets, both during lifetime and at death, and to accomplish the optimal estate and gift tax planning for clients through wills, trusts, and other instruments. Additionally, Susan serves as the program director of Minnesota Wills for Heroes. The Wills for Heroes program, sponsored by the Minnesota State Bar Association, is designed to provide free legal services for the preparation of basic estate planning documents for Minnesota first responders. She is also a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
