Steve Schleicher to Receive 2021 Outstanding Service Award from Minnesota Justice Foundation
October 11, 2021
Maslon is pleased to announce that Steve Schleicher, a partner in Maslon's Government & Internal Investigations Group, has been chosen to receive the 2021 Outstanding Service Award from the Minnesota Justice Foundation.
Steve will be honored in the private practice pro bono category alongside colleagues Jerry Blackwell and Lola Velazquez-Aguilu, all of whom participated as special prosecutors for the Minnesota attorney general's team in the trial of Derek Chauvin. The honorees will speak at the Oct. 27 event, Minnesota Justice Foundation's 2021 Virtual Awards Celebration, which also features a keynote address by Justice Natalie Hudson of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
In July 2020, Steve was one of four attorneys from private practice and in house selected to serve on a pro bono basis as part of the larger prosecution team, which includes representatives from the Minnesota Attorney General's Office and the Hennepin County Attorney's Office—all working under the leadership of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. Steve continues his service as the trial of the other three former police officers charged in George Floyd's death approaches.
