March 8, 2022

Maslon is pleased to announce that Partner Erica Holzer, co-chair of Maslon's Appellate Practice Group, has been appointed to serve as reporter for the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure. Attorney Jevon Bindman has been appointed a committee member.

Reporters for judicial committees are attorneys appointed by the Chief Justice and are viewed as leading experts in their respective fields. In her role as reporter, Erica will lead research of relevant law and draft memoranda analyzing suggested rule changes, develop proposed drafts of rules for committee consideration, review and summarize public comments on proposed amendments, and generate the committee notes and other materials documenting the rules committee's work. The reporter is responsible for bringing the committee's recommendations to the court.

Her appointment as reporter was effective Jan. 1, 2022. Erica also serves on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure.

Jevon, an attorney in Maslon's Litigation Group, has been appointed to serve on the committee as a new member; his three-year term also began Jan. 1.

Erica represents clients in complex commercial disputes primarily in the areas of tort and product liability, consumer fraud, business torts, and breach of contract actions. She is also an experienced appellate attorney. She has argued before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and has authored, co-authored, and edited dozens of appellate briefs. She is frequently sought out to provide advice on appeals in the Eighth Circuit and the appellate courts of Minnesota. Erica is co-author of several leading treatises on Minnesota civil and appellate law, and authors a chapter in the Eighth Circuit Appellate Practice Manual. She also serves as chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Appellate Practice Section and as a board member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society.

Jevon is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses his work on construction, insurance coverage, and appellate litigation as well as antitrust and general commercial matters. He has taken numerous complex matters to jury verdict, and helps both Fortune 500 companies and "mom and pop" operations to navigate all phases of the litigation process. He also regularly handles appeals in the Eighth Circuit and Minnesota appellate courts.

In addition to the Civil Rules committee, he is a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence, and is active as a speaker on the rules governing federal and Minnesota state courts.
