Maslon Volunteers for Home Rehab Project with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity

July 5, 2023

Continuing Maslon’s longstanding support of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH), firm members and our four summer associates proudly volunteered their labor for a TCHFH home rehab project last week. Firm chair and TCHFH board secretary Keiko Sugisaka orchestrated the firm's participation, furthering Habitat's mission to bring people together to create, preserve, and promote affordable homeownership and advance racial equity in housing.

Minnesota has some of the widest racial disparities in the nation—in education, health, economics, criminal justice, and especially housing, according to TCHFH. All of them can be tied back to discriminatory housing practices used throughout the 20th century. In 2023, TCHFH is working to better serve Black Americans who are descendants of enslaved Africans by delivering a program that is relevant for more households, especially those who've historically been shut out of homeownership.

Keiko has served as a Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity board member since 2019, continuing the firm’s legacy of leadership in the organization and steadfast support of TCHFH's mission.
