Maslon Partners Steve Schleicher, Stephanie Laws, and Melissa Muro LaMere to Present at the Trial Network's In-House and Outside Counsel: In Sync and In Person National Conference

Steve Schleicher, Stephanie Laws, and Melissa Muro LaMere, partners in Maslon's Litigation Group, will present at the In-House and Outside Counsel: In Sync and In Person national conference of the Trial Network, taking place Nov. 4-7, 2021, on Kiawah Island, S.C.
Steve will moderate a session titled "The Art of Jury Selection: A Murder Trial Revisited," which will examine the voir dire process in the 2021 trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, in which Steve served as special prosecutor.
Stephanie will lead the discussion for a panel titled "Lessons from the Pandemic and Product Liability Litigation," which will examine how the pandemic may impact the defense of product liability cases, consider the role of new sources of proof available through contact tracing, and explore how new PPE and social distancing habits could affect juror perceptions.
Melissa will serve as discussion leader for the session titled "Transitioning from Words to Action: Practical Steps for Moving Your Firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts in the Right Direction," which discusses practical steps to create measurable DEI results, including effective recruitment and retention strategies.

Steve is a renowned trial lawyer with deep experience in high profile cases. He concentrates his work on high stakes criminal and civil litigation, government and internal investigations, and appellate practice, and he co-chairs Maslon's Government & Internal Investigations Group. Steve’s extraordinary trial skills are well known throughout the United States and the world. Most recently, he has been recognized for his role as a special prosecutor in the internationally televised homicide trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.
Stephanie represents businesses in product liability and other complex civil litigation in federal and state courts nationwide, and also conducts internal investigations. Stephanie is experienced in all phases of litigation—from fact investigation through trial—with particular experience managing large-scale document review and production, e-discovery issues, and working with experts. In addition to aggressively litigating claims, Stephanie leverages early resolution strategies to avoid unnecessary litigation where possible.
Melissa is an employment and business litigation attorney who enjoys working with clients to protect and grow their businesses in a competitive marketplace. She focuses her practice on the full spectrum of employment counseling and litigation matters in addition to business disputes involving non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, business contracts and torts, and unfair competition and trade practices. Melissa is a frequent speaker on topics related to the advancement of DEI goals in law firms and regularly advises clients on incorporating these goals into their business plans.
