Keiko Sugisaka Presents at Screening of Documentary on WWII Japanese Incarceration and Its Relevance Today
June 16, 2023
Keiko Sugisaka, Maslon firm chair, executive committee chair, and Litigation Group partner, will moderate a virtual panel discussion June 16 from the Hennepin County Law Library on the documentary "Alternative Facts: The Lies of Executive Order 9066." The film sheds light on the people and politics that influenced the signing of Executive Order 9066, which authorized the mass incarceration of nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. It also examines the parallels between the World War II era and the current climate of fear, targeting of immigrant communities, and similar attempts to abuse the powers of the government.
The CLE is free, and pre-registration is not required. For the livestream link, go to Hennepin County Law Library Live Streaming CLEs.
