Business Development Practices for Women Attorneys
October 9, 2026
On Friday, Oct. 9, Maslon is hosting training on how to build, refine, and leverage an effective business development plan within a legal practice, with an emphasis on strategies for women and nonbinary attorneys and their allies.
Business development is a critical component of a successful legal career, yet many attorneys struggle to create and execute a structured plan that aligns with their strengths, interests, and professional goals. This interactive CLE presentation by the executive director of the Trial Network, Felice Wagner, and hosted by Maslon’s Women & Nonbinary Attorney Group, will include practical guidance on how to do just that, with a key focus on women-friendly business development events and strategies.
Traditional networking models do not always align with the way women and nonbinary attorneys prefer to build professional relationships. This program will explore alternative approaches—including relationship-driven networking, small-group gatherings, collaborative client development, mentorship, and community and affinity-based engagement—that may be more effective and sustainable in a law firm setting. The program will also discuss how allies can best accomplish their business development objectives. Participants will explore strategies for integrating business development into a busy legal practice and establishing measurable goals for long-term success.
