Bill Pentelovitch Named the Best Lawyers® 2019 Litigation - Banking & Finance "Lawyer of the Year" in Minneapolis
August 15, 2018
Bill Pentelovitch, partner in Maslon's Litigation Group, was recognized by Best Lawyers® as the 2019 Litigation - Banking and Finance "Lawyer of the Year" award winner in Minneapolis.
Best Lawyers began designating "Lawyers of the Year" in the U.S. in high-profile legal practice areas in conjunction with the 15th edition (2009). Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the "Lawyer of the Year," making this accolade particularly significant. Lawyers being honored as "Lawyer of the Year" are selected based on particularly impressive voting averages received during the exhaustive peer-review assessments with thousands of leading lawyers each year. Receiving this designation reflects the high level of respect a lawyer has earned among other leading lawyers in the same communities and the same practice areas for their abilities, their professionalism, and their integrity.
Bill has spent his entire 44 year legal career at Maslon, trying hundreds of jury, bench, and arbitration trials, as well as many dozens of appeals in state and federal courts. For over three decades, he has practiced nationally in the areas of non-compete, trade secret, unfair competition, intellectual property licensing, royalty, and distribution disputes. Bill also has an extensive practice in the area of ownership and governance disputes in closely-held corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships.
In addition to his primary areas of concentration, Bill's wide-ranging trial practice has encompassed virtually every type of dispute in which businesses can become embroiled. He hasrepresented a wide variety of financial institutions, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, manufacturing companies, real estate and construction companies, and professional service firms in breach of contract, business tort, and statutory liability cases.
Bill currently serves as board chair of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota Foundation as well as a member of the board of directors of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, of which he is the immediate past board chair. Through the ACLU-MN, he has provided significant pro bono representation with particular focus on voting and civil rights matters. Bill is also a member of the boards and executive committees of the Sabes Jewish Community Center and the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists.
