In 2023, Maslon represented Friend Tire in the sale of substantially all its assets to a strategic buyer, Southern Tire Mart—the largest independent commercial tire dealership in the U.S. As counsel for the seller, Maslon handled all aspects of legal due diligence, contract negotiation, and closing.

The transaction was especially important to Friend Tire’s parent company, Japan-based Yokohama Tire Corporation, which strengthened its relationship with the buyer—who was also a customer of Yokohama—through the acquisition. The successful sale was accompanied by a significant real estate transaction whereby Friend Tire sold a warehouse as part of the sale of the business. Maslon attorneys finalized both deals; the sale of company completed April 1, 2023, and the sale of real estate completed Aug. 15, 2023.
