The Rubber Meets the Road in Tire Company Deal

January 12, 2024

In 2023, Maslon represented Friend Tire in the sale of substantially all its assets to a strategic buyer, Southern Tire Mart—the largest independent commercial tire dealership in the U.S. As counsel for the seller, Maslon handled all aspects of legal due diligence, contract negotiation, and closing.

The transaction was especially important to Friend Tire’s parent company, Japan-based Yokohama Tire Corporation, which strengthened its relationship with the buyer—who was also a customer of Yokohama—through the acquisition. The successful sale was accompanied by a significant real estate transaction whereby Friend Tire sold a warehouse as part of the sale of the business. Maslon attorneys finalized both deals; the real estate transaction following the April 2023 sale of the company.

Terri Krivosha led the Maslon team, which also included Susan Markey and Marissa Newton of the Corporate & Securities Group and Matt Loven of the Real Estate Group.

Maslon's attorneys were proud to represent Friend Tire and "drive" these transactions through to a successful conclusion.
