Susan Link Featured in Minnesota Law & Politics
October 6, 2009
Susan Link, head of Maslon's Estate Planning Group, is featured as part of the "Special Focus: Women in the Law" section in the October/November 2009 issue of Minnesota Law & Politics. In the article, titled "Protecting the Protectors," Link shares details of her involvement with Minnesota Wills for Heroes, an organization that connects volunteer attorneys with emergency responders to draft wills and estate planning documents at no cost to them. Link is the program director for the organization.
Link recalls, "It turns out that most emergency responders haven't drafted a will. I thought, 'I can write a will in my sleep. This is a place where I can help.'"
The Minnesota Wills for Heroes project has become Link's passion. Last year alone she logged 460 volunteer hours with Wills for Heroes. For Link and her fellow volunteers, being able to give an emergency responder the knowledge that his or her family will be protected no matter what the future holds is well worth the time they've donated to the cause.
