Maslon was proud to secure a complete defense victory for Sanford Frontiers ("Sanford") in a multi-party arbitration. Sanford Frontiers is an affiliate of Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States.

The claimants sought millions of dollars in alleged damages related to their Profile by Sanford franchise business. While Sanford Frontiers did not have a contractual relationship with claimants, claimants sought to impose liability for alleged business losses based on claims under the South Dakota Franchise Investment Act, common law, and other theories.

In an order filed Sept. 25, 2023, the arbitrator dismissed all 10 claims against Sanford Frontiers. This was an especially positive result because it can be difficult to obtain dismissal early in arbitration.
