Steve Schleicher Discusses High-Profile Trials, Terrance Newby Joins an Authors' Roundtable for 2023 MSBA Convention

Two Maslon partners will present sessions June 21 at the 2023 Minnesota State Bar Association Convention. Steve Schleicher, a partner in Maslon's Litigation Group and chair of the Investigations & White Collar Defense Group, will serve on a panel for a session titled "Reflections on Participating in High-Profile Trials." Terrance Newby, a published fiction writer and playwright, joins a panel discussion titled "Why We Write: An Authors' Roundtable."

The convention takes place in Minneapolis on June 21-22.

Steve is a renowned trial lawyer with deep experience in high profile cases. He concentrates his work on high stakes criminal and civil litigation, internal investigations, white collar defense, and appellate practice. Steve’s extraordinary trial skills are well known; he was widely praised for his role as a pro bono special prosecutor in the internationally televised homicide trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. In his white collar criminal defense practice, Steve represents individuals accused of financial crimes involving health care, agriculture, and corporate embezzlement. In 2016, Steve served as a prosecutor on the Jacob Wetterling case, prosecuting Danny Heinrich on federal child pornography charges that led to his confession to Jacob’s kidnapping and murder as well as the recovery of his remains.

Terry has extensive experience assisting clients with their intellectual property, e-commerce, and complex commercial litigation needs. He has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts throughout the country in a broad range of infringement matters involving patent, trademark, copyright, and trade dress as well as licensing disputes. In addition, Terry has taken intellectual property matters to trial, including federal jury trials in patent infringement, trademark infringement, and false advertising cases under the Lanham Act. His clients include software companies, consumer products companies, e-commerce and emerging technology companies, and medical device companies. When not practicing law, Terry writes fiction, including novels and plays. His latest novel is "Dangerfield's Promise."
