Steve Schleicher and Stephanie Laws Present Internal Investigations Training for Association of Corporate Counsel Minnesota Chapter

Maslon Partner and Chair of the Investigations & White Collar Defense Group Steve Schleicher joins forces with Partner Stephanie Laws, co-chair of the Tort & Product Liability Group, for a Nov. 1 presentation to the Association of Corporate Counsel Minnesota Chapter. In the session, titled "Conducting Efficient Internal Investigations," Steve and Stephanie discuss how corporate counsel can effectively use these investigations to protect their company, including when to hire outside counsel, how to maintain privilege, and best practices throughout the investigation life cycle.

Steve is a renowned trial lawyer with deep experience in high profile cases. He concentrates his work on high stakes criminal and civil litigation, internal investigations, white collar defense, and appellate practice. Steve’s extraordinary trial skills are well known; he was widely praised for his role as a pro bono special prosecutor in the internationally televised homicide trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. In his white collar criminal defense practice, Steve represents individuals accused of financial crimes involving health care, agriculture, and corporate embezzlement. His investigations practice has included a high-profile investigation of a private security company holding a contract at a major NFL venue that resulted in its termination; a data security breach and IP theft conspiracy at a major automobile manufacturer; and internal investigations and government compliance on behalf of health care providers, including hospital systems and physicians.
Stephanie represents businesses in product liability and complex civil litigation in federal and state courts nationwide. She also conducts internal investigations and helps companies respond to government enforcement actions. Stephanie’s product liability bandwidth spans multiple industries, with particular focus on defense of FDA-regulated products. She is an experienced litigator who has handled cases from fact investigation through jury verdict. She has significant experience managing large-scale document collections and productions as well as e-discovery issues, both in one-off cases and across coordinated portfolios. Stephanie leverages insights from multiple client secondments to develop efficient legal strategies that are custom tailored to fit business needs. Stephanie is also deeply engaged with pro bono work; she partnered with Steve Schleicher in his role as special prosecutor in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd.
