Stephanie Laws Speaks at International Association of Defense Counsel Inaugural Product Liability Roundtable

September 12, 2024

Maslon Partner Stephanie Laws, co-chair of the Tort & Product Liability Group and vice chair of Rule 702 for the International Association of Defense Counsel’s Product Liability Committee, will serve as a panelist on Sept. 12 for a session at the sold-out IADC Product Liability Roundtable, hosted at Johnson & Johnson’s world headquarters in New Brunswick, N.J. In the session, titled "Attempts to Rebrand Product Liability Claims Is the Real Nuisance Here - Public Nuisance, The New Product Liability Super Tort," Stephanie discusses how plaintiffs are using public nuisance theories to hold product manufacturers liable for public health related harms traditionally viewed as social or political in nature.

Stephanie defends companies in product liability and complex civil litigation in federal and state courts nationwide. She also conducts internal investigations and helps companies respond to government enforcement actions. Stephanie’s product liability bandwidth spans multiple industries, with particular focus on medical devices and pharmaceuticals. She is an experienced litigator who handles cases from fact investigation through jury verdict. Stephanie is also deeply engaged with pro bono work, including assisting the state of Minnesota in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd and representing asylum seekers, among other endeavors.
