Stephanie Laws and Katie Maechler Co-Author Article on Practical Guidance for Snap Removal to Federal Court

Maslon Partners Stephanie Laws and Katie Maechler, co-chairs of the Tort & Product Liability Group, have co-authored an article for the winter issue of the American Bar Association's Product Liability Litigation newsletter. In the article, "Snap Removal: Key Practical Considerations," they offer guidance to product liability defense attorneys considering snap removal to federal court and explain that while snap removal is gaining more acceptance, it is not without risks.

Stephanie represents businesses in product liability and complex civil litigation in federal and state courts nationwide. Her product liability bandwidth spans multiple industries, with particular focus on defense of FDA-regulated products. An experienced litigator, Stephanie has handled cases from fact investigation through jury verdict. She leverages insights from multiple client secondments to develop efficient legal strategies that are custom tailored to fit business needs.

Katie, co-chair of Maslon's Litigation Group, focuses her practice on product liability defense litigation and has successfully represented clients of varying sizes across a range of product industries in federal and state courts throughout the country. She has particular expertise defending major medical device manufacturers’ FDA-approved devices in claims centered on medical device safety notifications and recalls, including significant experience deposing fact witnesses, healthcare providers, and medical, technical, and human factors experts.
