Maslon Board of Directors Announces New Practice Group Leaders

February 4, 2025

Maslon is pleased to announce that its board of directors has selected new leaders for three of its practice groups.

Kaitlin (Katie) Eisler will take over the leadership of the Corporate & Securities Group from Susan Markey, who was recently elected to the board. Jason Reed will serve as co-chair of the Financial Services Group, sharing that role with current leader Brian Klein. Bryan Freeman will become co-chair of the Litigation Group, sharing that role with current co-chair Katie Maechler. Litigation Group Co-Chair James Killian will step down from that role after 10 years of dedicated service.

Katie Eisler joined Maslon in 2022. She assists clients across a broad range of corporate and transactional legal needs, including complex mergers & acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, buy-sell agreements, and business succession agreements; commercial contracts, with a focus on technology-related agreements; corporate governance issues; and trademark application and management. Prior to private practice, she gained valued experience as an information security consultant and auditor with PwC.

Jason focuses his practice on corporate trustee representation, issues relating to corporate trust litigation, and bankruptcy concerns. He has represented both secured and unsecured creditors as well as representation of creditors' committees, in addition to defending financial and banking related litigation. Jason's practice also includes restructuring of municipal projects, including senior housing, long-term care facilities, and hospitals.

Bryan is a trial lawyer focusing his practice on insurance recovery and complex commercial litigation. In his insurance-recovery practice, he has helped his policyholder clients recover millions of dollars in insurance proceeds in disputes over coverage for directors and officers; employment practices; product, environmental, professional, and fiduciary liability; as well as in litigation over first-party coverage for fidelity and crime loss, property loss, business interruption, and cyber loss. Bryan also has extensive experience litigating business disputes in federal courts around the country.

Brian has chaired the Financial Services Group for several years and also serves on the Maslon board of directors. He has extensive experience representing corporate trustees, financial institutions, and other capital providers in all forms of commercial financing transactions. He also regularly represents lenders and corporate trustees in workout and restructuring matters, and, in his real estate work, he represents owners and lenders in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisition and financing matters.

Katie Maechler co-chairs both the Litigation Group and the Tort & Product Liability Group. She focuses her practice on product liability defense litigation and has successfully represented clients of varying sizes across a range of product industries in federal and state courts throughout the country. Katie has particular expertise defending manufacturers’ products in claims centered on device safety notifications and recalls.
