Keiko Sugisaka and Eran Kahana to Present at Minnesota CLE's 2014 Midwest IP Institute

Maslon attorneys Keiko Sugisaka and Eran Kahana will present at the 2014 Midwest IP Institute on September 18 & 19, 2014. The two-day conference provides comprehensive coverage of the intellectual property law landscape and its changes.
During an afternoon breakout session on day one, Eran will co-present on "Technology Transfer." The informative session will focus on key issues including strategic use of legal mechanisms for the transfer that will best protect your client’s IP interests in the context of the deal; international considerations such as export controls, required government approvals, proportional ownership, trade secrets traps; and more.
Keiko will co-present a breakout session on day two titled "Should You Patent That Trade Secret?" The session will address the advantages, disadvantages and key differences between patents and trade secrets; how to decide whether to seek patent or trade secret protection (or both); and how that analysis has changed after the America Invents Act and recent Federal Circuit and Supreme Court decisions.
Keiko Sugisaka is a partner and trial lawyer in Maslon's Litigation Group and focuses her practice primarily in the areas of business, products liability, and intellectual property litigation. She has broad experience litigating both plaintiff and defense cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States involving complex litigation in cases that included patent, trademark, and copyright infringement; products liability defense; antitrust; director/officer liability; trade secret misappropriation; unfair competition; and breach of contract claims.
Eran Kahana is an intellectual property attorney with a strong IT background and extensive experience advising clients in domestic and international settings. He focuses his practice on matters such as trademark prosecution, cybersecurity and drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, such as licensing, procurement and consulting. Eran is a frequent speaker and writer on various intellectual property topics and a Research Fellow at Stanford Law School.
