Financial Services

Today's financial services companies must develop strategic opportunities while effectively managing legal and operational risk at every level of complex organizations in a rapidly changing competitive and legal landscape. Maslon's consistent approach has been to invest in a thorough understanding of the business lines of our financial services clients so that we can provide responsive and efficient legal services that not only meet immediate needs, but also add strategic value and reduce overall risk. Our goal is to be more loyal and ultimately more valuable to our financial services clients than our competition. As a mid-sized law firm, we are able to work on sophisticated financial-services-related bankruptcies and litigation without the disabling conflicts of interest that often affect larger firms with developed financial services practices.

The range of our lending services includes the structuring and documentation of debt transactions for banks and other lenders, including hedge funds and private equity funds across a spectrum of commercial debt transactions. These transactions include commercial and real estate loan transactions, loan workouts, debt restructurings, and the vigorous pursuit of creditor remedies in bankruptcy and other insolvency proceedings.

Our group includes a sophisticated and specialized corporate trust practice that is unusual for a law firm of our size and geographic location. We regularly provide advice regarding all aspects in the administration of corporate trusteeships and agencies relating to public and private debt issuances—whether as indenture trustee, collateral trustee, custodian, escrow agent, syndication agent, or other capacity. We have direct experience in many of the issues facing the corporate trust industry, and our experience cuts across most corporate trust deal types from structured financings, CDOs, corporate debt issuances, and public tax exempt financing.

We leverage our broad capabilities to offer clients an in-depth understanding of the risks and benefits associated with various legal approaches, so that informed decisions can be made. In all regards, we work closely with our clients, build great professional relationships, and manage matters carefully and efficiently to ensure their objectives are achieved.
