Commercial & Individual Law

We have a high degree of legal sophistication and a range of practice typically found only in law firms several times our size.

Corporate law offers many wonderful challenges. Maslon has represented companies of all sizes, from inception through various stages of corporate growth, often including initial public offerings, acquisitions or sales. We represent our clients in a wide range of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial loan documentation, asset-based financings, loan workouts, creditor remedies and bankruptcies, intellectual property and technology issues, construction contracts, project development, real estate transactions, and establishing distributorship in the United States and abroad. We also have a broad securities practice, which includes representation of issuers and selling shareholders in the public markets.

Clients seek our guidance for transactions ranging from $100,000 to over $1 billion. This broad range of commercial transactions provides our associates with many opportunities to master the learning curve quickly. Associates are encouraged to take initiative and are given responsibility from their first day with the firm.

Our Labor & Employment attorneys are on-call and on-task whenever our clients need advice, providing holistic proactive counsel that recognizes the goals of the business and works to advance them.

Our Estate Planning Group works with high net-worth individuals in structuring and administering trusts and estate plans. Some of the trusts and estates we implement and administer are valued in excess of $100 million.

Established practice areas within the firm's commercial practice include the following:

  • General Counsel Services
  • Employee Benefits

  • Financial Services

The Maslon firm regularly handles extraordinary cases. We have always been willing to accept challenging and unique cases: from trade secret misappropriation to disputes over the sale of power plants, products liability litigation to employment law, constitutional issues to construction litigation. We are trial lawyers, not merely litigators.

Many of our litigators are certified trial specialists and members of prestigious professional organizations such as the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. Our practice encompasses all aspects of trial and appellate work, including arbitrations and administrative proceedings before government agencies.

Maslon's litigation practice includes the areas of:
