My summer at Maslon provided me more than a summer of work experiences and events—it gave me an incredible snapshot of my invested future with the firm.
From the very first week of the summer program, I received a broad mix of interesting work. As a litigation-focused summer associate, I was able to help many teams of attorneys working on everything from complex commercial litigation to serving the local community with pro bono work. Maslon didn't just meet my hopes for the summer—the firm exceeded them. I was privileged to work directly with senior partners, associates, and staff on a variety of substantive assignments that reflected what a day in the life of an attorney would look like.
Also, Maslon gave me hands-on training and provided me with the tools I needed to thrive and succeed. I was thrilled to transition from the somewhat abstract academic knowledge from law school to the concrete, "real world" work of an attorney. Maslon's training empowered me by giving me direct participation and experience with client matters as well as integrating special observation opportunities, such as attending depositions, hearings, and client meetings, to expose me to a variety of legal experiences.
One of the best things about my experience with Maslon's summer program was the people. I can't convey enough how open and warm all of Maslon's staff and attorneys are. When everyone talks about the "Maslon family" experience, it's true! My assigned associate, partner, and writing mentor acted as fantastic sounding boards for any questions I had, and all took an interest in my professional development. And other attorneys became invaluable, informal mentors as the summer went on, taking me and the other summer associates out to lunch and continuing the welcoming environment of the firm.
All in all, Maslon provided me great tools for near-future practice, a fun summer program to be a part of, and a great culture and environment in which to work.
