Maslon Sponsors 7th Annual Minnesota Cup; Shawn McIntee to Serve as Review Board Member

April 11, 2011

Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand, LLP is pleased to announce our continued sponsorship of and participation with the Minnesota Cup and its 7th Annual competition. In addition to the firm's support, Shawn McIntee, partner in Maslon's Business & Securities Group, will serve as a review board member for the Grand Prize. Review board member selections are based on extensive experience working with leading, early-stage growth companies and providing feedback, mentorship and resources that have led to success. Maslon has been a sponsor and Shawn has participated with the MN cup since its inception.

The Minnesota Cup is an annual competition for Minnesota entrepreneurs to submit their breakthrough business ideas and has attracted more than 5,000 entries since 2005. The 7th Annual Minnesota Cup competition launched March 28 and ends September 8 with an award event held at the University of Minnesota McNamara Alumni Center. Contestants across six divisions will compete for more than $150,000 in seed capital and free professional services from select Minnesota Cup sponsors. Participants also gain exposure for their ideas, strengthen their business plans and expand connections in the business community.

Shawn concentrates his practice in the areas of advising public and private businesses, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law (including contracts and electronic commerce), and software and emerging companies. He has represented manufacturers, technology companies, service companies, software companies, law firms and financial services clients. Shawn has extensive experience advising clients on day-to-day legal and business matters. One outside director of a corporation Shawn represents referred to him as a "businessman's lawyer." He has extensive experience in assisting clients with the purchase and sale of businesses, including the divestiture of divisions, and management buyouts. Shawn approaches each transaction from a business perspective, taking into account the specific goals of his client.
