Maslon Elects New Governance Committee; Mike McCarthy to Serve as Chair

Maslon is pleased to announce the election of its 2016 Governance Committee, which manages the firm. Mike McCarthy has served on Maslon's Governance Committee since 2014 and was elected to serve as chair in 2016. He is joined by Paul Chestovich, member since 2015, and Haley Schaffer, a newly elected member of the firm's Governance Committee.

Mike is a partner in Maslon's Litigation Group. He represents clients in complex litigation and appeals. Mike has represented clients in the federal and state appellate courts in Minnesota and North Dakota. Mike has defended putative class actions involving securities and consumer fraud, environmental claims, and antitrust and other alleged statutory violations. He also has experience with and expertise in corporate trust matters, technology-related litigation (including intellectual property disputes), and medical-device liability.

Paul is a partner in Maslon's Business & Securities Group. He represents large national businesses and small closely held businesses in a variety of commercial transactional work, including general counseling, corporate and governance, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, securities offerings and regulation, and financing transactions. In addition, Paul has particular experience with the formation and operation of investment funds such as hedge funds and venture-capital funds and presently represents a publicly traded business development company.

Haley is a partner in Maslon's Litigation Group and member of Maslon's Appellate Practice Group, where she focuses her practice on business litigation. She has represented local and national clients in a wide range of high-stakes business disputes in state and federal courts throughout the country, as well as in arbitrations. Haley has significant expertise in complex contract, licensing, trade secrets, non-compete, unfair competition, trademark, and royalty-related cases. She also has significant expertise in ownership and governance disputes in corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies. Haley has also been repeatedly recognized on the Top Women Attorneys in Minnesota list by Super Lawyers®.
