Margo Brownell Selected as a 2018 Women in Business Award Winner by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal

Maslon is pleased to announce that Margo Brownell, partner in the firm's Litigation Group, has been selected as a 2018 Women in Business Award Winner by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. This year's honorees were recognized for their professional achievements, leadership, and contributions to the broader Twin Cities community. The winners include industry-leading executives and entrepreneurs.

Margo is the head of the Insurance Coverage Group. She represents commercial policyholders with complex insurance claims under all types of property and liability policies, including commercial general liability, directors and officers liability, professional liability, cyber-liability, and intellectual property liability coverage. In addition, she handles complex property claims, such as those arising from major catastrophic events, including 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and more recently the wildfires in Santa Rosa, as well as claims under financial institution bonds and commercial crime policies. Margo also handles reinsurance issues and represents reinsurers. She served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School, where she taught insurance law and founded the Insurance Law Clinic.

Along with managing her busy practice, Margo also serves on Maslon's Diversity and Inclusion Committee, specifically tasked with promoting diversity and inclusion at Maslon, in the profession, and in the community overall through active participation in and support of a broad range of initiatives. Additionally, Margo is passionate about giving back to her community, with particular focus on pro bono legal work, environmental issues, sustainable food, and women's rights. She is a Founding Member of Global Rights for Women, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Boundary Waters, and co-founder of the Minnesota Food Co-op Boards.
